The President of the Islamic IQRA Committee in Kuwait Mr. M.R.M. Munas visited Sri Lanka Embassy on 15th July 2009 accompanied by members and handed over a cheque for Rs. 304,654/- to the Ambassador to be used for the relief and resettlement operations of the internally displaced persons.

Ambassador  welcomed  the  IQRA’ delegation to the  Embassy  and expressed his appreciation  to Mr. Munas and the committee for their commitment and care towards the IDPS.  He also commended the IQRA’ for taking an active role  for the  socio-economic emancipation of downtrodden people  in   Sri Lanka. 

Mr. Munas briefed the Ambassador on the activities conducted by IQRA’ Committee for the spiritual upliftment and welfare of the Muslim community in Kuwait.  Commenting on the situation in Sri Lanka, Mr. Munas appreciated the courageous leadership of the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and hoped that all Sri Lankans irrespective of their religious, ethnic and social barriers will contribute towards the motherland for a better future. 

The contribution of   Rs. 304,654/-  has been sent to the Ministry of Finance for the purpose of providing welfare and supporting  the daily needs of IDPs and for their eventual resettlement and rehabilitation. 

Mr. Munas was accompanied by Mr. Harees Salih and Mr. Mohamed Fakeehudeen.
