A 03-member delegation from Kuwait Fund visited Sri Lanka from 13.9.2010 to 22.9.2010 on a  Project Appraisal Mission of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka.  The objective of the mission was to appraise the Phase 1B –the proposed project – and assess the progress of Phase 1A of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka Development Project. The loan granted by the Fund for Phase 1A was KD 2 million (approximately SLRs 800 Mn) and the loan approved by the Fund for Phase 1B is KD 3 million (approximately SLRs.1200 Mn).

Mission delegation comprises the following

         1. Dr. Moustafa El-Kayel, Legal Adviser
         2. Mr. Saoud Al-Ammar, Engineering Advisor
         3. Dr.Kamal Naser, Economic Advisr

During their stay, they had meetings with the Project Director/ SEUDP, Vice Chancellor of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Chairman, University Grants Commission, Director General of the Department of External Resources of the Ministry of Finance and the Hon Minister of Higher Education. Also they attended a media conference arranged by the Ministry of Higher Education. Hon Minister hosted a Dinner in honour of the above delegation.

The delegation also visited the project site at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka at Oluvil and they were highly satisfied with the physical progress and the quality of the construction work being done.
