Commencement of duties subsequent to the swearing in of His Excellency the President |

The staff of the Embassy commenced their official duties on 22nd November following a brief programme held at the mission to coincide with the inauguration of the second term of office of President Mahinda Rajapaksa which took place on the 19th November 2010 in Colombo. In keeping with the expectations of the government and the people of Sri Lanka, the mission staff present on the occasion expressed their commitment and cooperation toward realizing the vision of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to make Sri Lanka the “Miracle of Asia” under the Mahinda Chintana Forward Vision presented by him upon assumption of office as President in 2005.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of national flag followed by the playing of national anthem. Thereafter, the staff observed a 2-minutes’ silence in memory of those who laid their lives for the motherland.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador briefed the staff on the significance of the 2nd term of presidency to usher in a golden era that will bring opportunities and economic prosperity to all Sri Lankans. He also emphasized the commitment and dedication of all staff toward the well-being of Sri Lankans at a time war has ended thus paving the way for the reawakening of the motherland.
The staff present on the occasion conveyed their blessings and best wishes to the President, Prime Minister, Cabinet of Ministers and Deputy Ministers for the success in their worthy endeavours.
