Iqra Islamic Committee - IIC (Sri Lankan Muslim Communality) appreciated the services of His Excellency Sarath Dissanayake, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Kuwait, in the eve of His Excellency’s Diplomatic Career Transition. A special event was held on Friday, January 7th 2011 at Rawda, in the Auditorium of Social Reform Society, aiming to bid farewell to His Excellency and his Family. The participation of His Excellency’s family made the event a wonderful experience and helped the event ended on a high note. 



The event was chaired by Al-Sheikh M. R. M. Munas, President of Iqra Islamic Committee andmoderated by Al-Sheikh M. M. Hazik Marikkar. The event began with a beautiful recitation of a verse from holy Quran by Master Abdullah Harees and followed by a welcome speech, given by Al-Sheikh Hazik Marikkar. In his welcome speech, Al-Sheikh Hazik confessed that His Excellency Sarath Dissanayake has been one of the finest Ambassadors of all time, who have assigned the Srilankan mission in Kuwait, and IIC is absolutely thrilled to have his Excellency in that simple event, in terms of his Excellency's diplomatic classification and status, while it will definitely be a unique event in the history of IIC. Thence it was the time for the special orator, Al-Sheikh Muneer Muzaffer, who excited the gathering with his propelling source of Sinhalese language skills. In his speech Al-Sheikh Muneer exposed some of his Excellency’s true accomplishments while in service and lauded his Excellency’s services towards Srilnkan citizens, who reside in Kuwait beyond any discrimination. He also regarded the event as unique, since it has been the first time that IIC has organized, such an event of this kind to offer tribute to a diplomatic supreme. Monumental accreditations were then presented to Madam Ramanika Dissanayake and his Excellency Sarath Dissanayake, by Dr. Natheeja Marikkar and Al-Sheikh M. R. M. Munas respectively. 

Then His Excellency gave the keynote speech. While addressing the gathering, his Excellency gave credits and good remarks to IIC for executing its activities with specific objectives. His Excellency also stressed the good relation with IIC’s President Al-Sheikh Munas and highly praised Al-Sheikh Muneer for his exceptional communication skill in Sinhalese language. His Excellency further shared with the gatherings some of the accomplishment of the Sri Lankan mission, during his Excellency’s term in Kuwait. In the interim of his speech, his Excellency also gave some references to the achievements made by Seva Wanita Unit (Women’s Affairs) of the Embassy. Eventually, Al-Sheikh Rafees Azeez vested the vote of thanks and the event was winded up with the closing prayers, followed by refreshment.
