TO : ALL SRI LANKANS IN KUWAIT Reference “Kuwait Times” article of 14th July on the plight of Kamalawathi who is alleged to have been denied her salaries and other benefits for over 13 years by her Kuwaiti sponsor. The “Kuwait Times” article was reproduced in the Embassy web page on 15th July ( please browse page 3 of the web )
Based on the Kamalawathi’s pathetic story, “Sunday Divaina” newspaper of 25th July edition carried an article in which the Sri Lankan Embassy has been unfairly taken to task by its sub-editor. Subsequently, the Embassy made representations ( through the Foreign Ministry ) to the newspaper and got a clarification / rebuttal published in the “Sunday Divaina” of 29th August. In the rebuttal published on 29th August, it is regretted that the following 02 concluding paragraphs (final and penultimate ) have been omitted which sought to further clarify our position on Kamalwathi vis a vis “Sunday Divaina” article in question.
