Embassy staff celebrates 2nd Annual Ramadan and Iftar Program |

The Holy Month of Ramadan is the most significant month for the Muslims / Arabs around the world. The Islamic devotees have begun their month-long dawn to dusk fasting season commenced on 11th August 2010, which coincides with the spiritual activities and worshipping in addition to practicing good deeds. The Prophet Muhammad said it is the month of blessings and repentance as well as forgiveness.

In celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Embassy Muslim colleagues and their families hosted an Iftar programme and a dinner for the Embassy staff, their families and friends at the Embassy compound on Saturday 20th August. This is the second annual Iftar programme organized by the Embassy staff for Ramadan, having organized the maiden Iftar programme/dinner on 21st September 2009. The programme was held in two locations concurrently for males and females separately in keeping with the Islamic traditions which was well received by all those present.

The programme commenced with religious observances conducted by the staff followed by break-fast at the auspicious time. The Special Guest Mowlavi Mohammed Faisal of the Islamic Presentation Committee ( IPC ) delivered a special sermon and invoked blessings on the gathering. Mowlavi Faisal quoted “The Holy Quran” and said that Islamic devotees during Ramadan fasting season are engaged in religious deeds such as practicing tolerance, kindness and sharing their wealth with their fellow human beings and at the same time spreading the message of love, peace and compassion. He also emphasized the relevance of the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s message on Ramadan fasting as a means of understanding the true nature of human sufferings and guiding the mankind towards a modest and humble life in a spirit of humanity.

On behalf of the Embassy staff, Ambassador appreciated the generosity and kindness of the fellow Muslim staff on the occasion of hosting an Iftar programme / dinner to share their happiness with their friends. The members of the staff thanked their Muslim colleagues for the opportunity afforded to them to experience the Islamic religious values and traditions amid an atmosphere of togetherness and brotherhood.
