Minister of External Affairs, Prof G L Peiris, launched the website of the ‘Foreign Policy Think Tank’ on 22nd June 2010 (today) at the External Affairs Ministry.

Mr. W.C.S.C. Weliwatta (SLAS Class I ), Commissioner of Labour has assumed duties at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait as  First Secretary / Labour w.e.f. 20th June 2010 replacing Mr. Herath Yapa, Minister Counsellor.  Meanwhile, Mr. W. Kahawatta, Asst. Commissioner of Labour has succeeded  Mr. H.M. Gunatillake, First Secretary w.e.f. 20th June as Third Secretary / Labour.

We warmly welcome both Mr. Weliwatta and  Mr. Kahawatta to Kuwait and wish them all the best in their new assignments. 

Sri Lanka is pleased to accept the role of Chair of the G-15 in succession to the Islamic Republic of Iran. We look forward to hosting the Group’s next Summit in 2012.
 
I wish to congratulate His Excellency Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, for his guidance and sterling leadership of this Group over the past years. Your dedication, Excellency, to the further strengthening and advancement of the G15 has ensured its continuity in the noble tradition for which it was founded, namely of enhancing South-South cooperation.
