Manama: Sri Lanka's ambassador to Kuwait said that the new year celebrations by his community last Friday disrupted by hardliners did not include hard liquor, drinks, dances, a graffiti on a car or the election of a beauty queen.

As part of its initiative to maintain a constructive dialogue with the Sri Lankan community in Kuwait, the Embassy of Sri Lanka has successfully concluded the “Second Annual Sri Lankan Diaspora Gathering” on the 16th April 2010 at the Embassy premises. A large gathering of Sri Lankans numbering over 450 from all walks of life was present on the occasion. It is recalled that the maiden Sri Lankan Diaspora Gathering was held on 17th April'.

The venue for the following two events has been changed as follows due to technical reasons. Regret the inconvenience caused. I shall be thankful if you could pass this information to your colleagues and friends for their kind information.
1. Sri Lak Rangana cultural shows – 29th & 30th April.
The venue has been changed to Keifan Theatre (Opposite Keifan Cooperative) from Carmel School as previously indicated.

The “Sri Lanka Culture Week” in Kuwait, jointly hosted by the National Council for Culture, Arts & Letters together with Embassy of Sri Lanka will kick off 26th April to 02nd May 2010. The event, the first ever promotions of its kind is co-sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and the Sri Lankan Airlines (SLA) with the support of a host of well-wishers.
H.E. Mr. Bader Abdul Wahab Al Rifai, Secretary General and the staff of the National Council for Culture, Arts & Letters have made all the arrangements in this regard to make the week-long celebrations a success.
